How Do I Program a Philips Remote Control?
Your Philips remote can be utilized to control several different electronic devices found in your home, including your television, DVD player and cable box. In order to use the Philips remote control with any of the previously mentioned devices, you will first need to program the remote to work with that particular device. This can be achieved by entering the proper code into the Philips remote. You can also search for the proper code for that specific Philips remote control using the remote itself.

Program with Codes

Turn on the device you want to use with the Philips remote control. Since you aren't using a remote, you will need to press the "Power" button on that electronic device to turn it on.

Hold down the button labeled "Code Search" or "Setup" on the Philips remote until the light on the remote turns on and stays on. You can then release the button.

Type in the three-digit code for the device for that Philips remote. This code is usually located in the user manual for the remote control.

Look at the light on the Philips remote control. If you have entered the correct code, the light will turn off. If you have not entered the correct code, the light will flash and you will need to attempt another code.

Press the "Channel Up" or "Power" button on the Philips remote. If the device you powered on in step 1 responds, you have successfully programmed the remote and do not need to do anything else. Otherwise, you will need to repeat steps 2-4 to try and program the Philips remote again.

Turn on the device you want to use with the Philips remote control. Since you aren't using a remote, you will need to press the "Power" button on that electronic device to turn it on.

Press either the "Channel Up" or "Power" button on the Philips remote to begin cycling through codes on the Philips remote. Keep pressing "Channel Up" or "Power" to cycle through all of the codes until the device responds to the remote. This could take some time as you may need to press the button many times before you locate the right code.

Press "Mute" on the Philips remote to save the code once you have found it.
